Service Animals

Service Animals are welcome at Sunset Zoo. Visitors with service animals should notify the presence of a service animal at time of arrival. Advance notice is appreciated, but not required. The care and supervision of service animals on zoo grounds is solely the responsibility of the handler. Other outside animals and pets are not permitted into the zoo.

Summer Cooling Misters

During the hot summer months, Sunset Zoo provides multiple water misters throughout the park located near the red panda exhibit, the concession stand, and along the Americas Trail.

Monthly Siren Test & Fort Riley

Riley County Emergency Management and Riley Count Police Department Dispatch Center test the outdoor warning sirens the first Monday of each month at 10:30am. With one siren located along the large water tower at the end of the zoo parking lot. This siren is very loud and startling, do not panic during the monthly test. We encourage guests with sensory issues to arrive after this test. Sign up for Riley County Emergency Notifications here

With proximity to the base at Fort Riley, the zoo may experience loud booms and shaking buildings. This is normal activity and will cease momentarily.
