About Reptiles
Life on earth is certainly diverse; over 2 billion species have been identified. To help organize all this biological diversity, animals with similar characteristics are grouped into classes. At Sunset Zoo we exhibit several animal classes including: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians & invertebrates.
Reptiles are cold-blooded vertebrates and can be found on all continents except Antarctica. These animals have tough skin covered in scales and lungs for breathing. Like amphibians, they rely on warmth from sunlight to regulate their body heat. Reptiles include snakes, lizards, crocodilians and turtles.
